Covid-19 Precautions

September 4, 2021 Update:

The Alberta Government implemented a province-wide mask mandate as of September 4, 2021. As such, until further notice, masks are now mandatory at Acceleration Physiotherapy and throughout the Integro Wellness Studio.

June 28, 2021 Update:

Masks & Screening

Physiotherapy Alberta is awaiting further direction from Dr. Hinshaw and Alberta Health regarding use of masks in community health settings after July 1, 2021. Until additional information is provided, Acceleration Physiotherapy will continue following the protocols in place prior to July 1, 2021.

Therapists will continue to wear masks during treatment and will encourage patients to wear masks, as well. COVID-19 pre-treatment screening questionnaires will still be mandatory for patients.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind patients of the following:

    • Even if you have very mild symptoms, you must reschedule your appointment, regardless of your vaccination status (no cancellation fee in place at this time).
    • If you have been directed to quarantine by Alberta Health Services or the Canadian Border Services Agency, you must not attend physiotherapy.

As always, if you have any further questions regarding this, please feel free to reach out to us – click here.

August 2020 Update:

As of August 14th, Integro Wellness Studio (the facility that Acceleration Physiotherapy operates inside of) has implemented mandatory mask-wearing in its facility. As a result, if you’re able to, please ensure you wear a mask to your next physiotherapy appointment. If you don’t have one of your own, we can provide one for you when you arrive.

As always, if you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out and contact us.

May 1, 2020 Update: physiotherapy treatment

Following the announcement of the government’s relaunch strategy and the subsequent reopening of different parts of our communities, Acceleration Therapy looks forward to opening its doors again on May 4th. The health and wellness of our patients and therapist are the greatest priority and this time calls for us to move forward cautiously. As such, we ask that anyone who falls into any of the following categories refrain from booking in-person and continue with tele-rehabilitation:

    • You have ANY Covid-19 related symptoms, such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose or sore throat.
      • You can use the COVID-19 screening tools available through Alberta Health Services if you’re unsure about your symptoms.
      • All patients will also receive a mandatory screening questionnaire via email before every appointment. This must be completed prior to attending.
      • We understand allergy/cold season is upon us, but ask for your understanding if your therapist asks you to reschedule due to symptoms.
    • You or someone you’re in physical contact with has recently traveled.
    • You have had contact with individuals who have a confirmed or presumptive diagnosis of COVID-19.
    • Because of the increased risk-factors, we ask individuals with a compromised immunity, known co-morbidities, and/or those who are over 65 years to examine whether in-person treatment is critical to your health prior to booking.

*IMPORTANT* Please complete your online intake form in detail (or contact the clinic if your details have changed since you last completed the form). Your therapist will review it prior to your appointment and contact you regarding any concerns, if necessary.

Clinical Precautions

In alignment with the guidelines set forth by the Physiotherapy Alberta College, our clinic has enhanced its practices in the following areas:

    • Environmental Cleaning Practices
      • Increased use of virucidal disinfectants to sanitize the clinic and any contact points within the clinic following each patient.
    • Hand Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment
      • Your therapist will wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
      • Patients are encouraged to wear a face mask at the clinic. If you have your own clean mask, please feel free to bring it with you. A mask can be provided if you don’t have your own but wish to use this precaution.
      • Patients will be asked to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon arrival and departure of the clinic.
    • Business Practices
      • As always, our therapist will only treat one patient at a time, meaning there will only be one patient in the clinic at any given time (and accompanying chaperone, if necessary).
      • Time will be added between each booking to ensure thorough disinfecting can take place.
      • Patients should remain in their vehicle until 5 minutes prior to their appointment (instead of arriving early and waiting inside the clinic).
      • Whenever possible, we ask that patients pay using contactless options (Acceleration Physiotherapy uses a fully encrypted online payment system).
      • To limit paper sharing, consent will be requested verbally and/or electronically.
      • Elimination of cancellation fees – patients can cancel their appointments at any point without being charged.

Additional Information

We would like to thank all existing and future patients for their consideration of the current environment. As you know, the situation we’re in evolves rapidly, and Acceleration Physiotherapy will continue to monitor and adapt as needed. The health and safety of our patients and staff remains our top priority, and all decisions will reflect this focus.
