What to Expect

Sherwood Park Physiotherapy | FAQ

If it’s your first time visiting Acceleration Physiotherapy in Sherwood Park – or your first time receiving physiotherapy – you might be wondering what to expect. Here are some answers to common FAQ…

How do I book an appointment?

We make booking easy. New and returning patients can schedule appointments online – just click HERE and follow the prompts. Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with all the important info (like address and directions), plus a link to complete your online intake forms

Prefer to speak with someone directly? You’re welcome to call or text us at 587-338-4900, or contact us through our website

How long is a physiotherapy appointment?

Since we only treat one patient at a time (meaning your therapist won’t be juggling multiple other patients at the same time as you), your appointments are focused and efficient:

    • Initial assessments: approximately 45 minutes
    • Follow-up treatments: 25–30 minutes
    • Extended treatments for multiple body parts: approximately 45 minutes

Treatment length can vary depending on your condition and needs. Your physiotherapist will spend the entire session working with you…no assistants, no distractions.

Arriving At the Clinic

At Acceleration Physiotherapy, we don’t always have on-site reception staff. If you’re not greeted immediately – don’t worry, just have a seat in the waiting area. Your therapist will come get you at your scheduled time.

What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a hands-on, movement-focused approach to relieving pain, restoring mobility, and improving physical function. It benefits everyone, from office workers and active adults to post-surgical patients and athletes recovering from injury.

Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral?

No doctor’s referral is needed to receive treatment. However, some insurance providers require a referral for reimbursement. If you have a note from your doctor, bring it to your first visit and we’ll add it to your file for your therapist’s reference.
